Pitched roofing in Oxford
Natural slate, clay tile, concrete tile, and Cotswold stone. Installed by Brendon and his crew, backed by manufacturer warranties and our ten-year workmanship guarantee.
What we do
Pitched roofs are what most Oxford homes carry. Clay tile on the Jericho terraces, concrete tile on the inter-war semis across Headington and Cowley, Cotswold stone on the older Witney and Abingdon cottages. The choices you make on materials, fixings, and ventilation are what decides whether you get fifteen years out of the roof or fifty.
Material options
- Concrete tile. Most common UK pitched-roof material. Wide style range: plain, pantile, interlocking, low-profile. 40 to 60 year lifespan. Marley, Redland, and Sandtoft are the major UK suppliers.
- Natural slate. UK heritage material. 75 to 100+ year lifespan, premium look. Welsh slate is the gold standard; Spanish and Brazilian slate are widely available imports.
- Clay tile. Period property aesthetic, 50+ year lifespan. Plain tiles, pantiles, interlocking. Ideal for character properties and conservation areas.
- Cotswold stone slate. The local heritage material from Witney westward into the Cotswolds. Diminishing-course laying, lime mortar pointing, reclaimed stock for conservation work. Hundred-year roofs when laid right.
- Metal (standing seam, stone-coated). Modern look, 40 to 70 year lifespan, energy-efficient. Growing in UK contemporary builds.
We also work in felt shingle on outbuildings and small extensions when it's the right call for the build.

Listed buildings & conservation areas
Period properties, listed buildings, and roofs in conservation areas often require like-for-like materials, typically natural slate or clay tile. We have experience working under listed-building consent and can match historic profiles, including hand-cut Welsh slate, traditional clay pantiles, and reclaimed materials where required.
Warranty
All pitched-roof installs come with the manufacturer's material warranty (varies by product, typically 25–50 years) plus our 10-year workmanship warranty. We work to spec with major UK manufacturers including Marley, Redland, Sandtoft, Cembrit, and Tata Steel.
